MEAK carries out heart surgery on babies and children born with congenital heart disease.
In Kenya, as in much of East Africa, there are very limited, if any, alternative options for these children.
MEAK also conducts a regular medical and teaching clinic in Mombasa and Kilifi, helping paediatricians diagnose and look after these children.
The MEAK Heart Team is led by Professor David Anderson and a team of medical professionals from the Evelina London Children’s Hospital.
MEAK has thus far carried out 22 heart missions with 444 children receiving life-saving cardiac surgery and many 1000’s of children and families benefitting from review and heart scans in the outpatient clinics.
